Dr. Ben Carson receives Medal of Freedom: The nation's highest civilian award |
President George W. Bush presented Dr. Benjamin Carson with the 2008 Presidential Medal of Freedom on Thursday. Dr. Carson is a well known neurosurgeon who became the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital when he was 33 years old.Today Dr. Carson is "renowned for his successful efforts to separate conjoined twins and his expertise in controlling brain seizures," Bush said. Carson and his wife Candy have started an organization that offers college scholarships to students across America and Carson has become "a scholar, a healer, and a leader," the president said.
