2009 Black Heritage Stamp

The Anna Julia Haywood Cooper stamp will be available in June 2009. 

Anna Cooper was an author, educator and one of the most important black scholars. In 1923 she became the 4th black woman to earn a doctorate degree. Her book "A Vocie from the South" is viewed as one of the 1st arituclations of Black Feminism. She also touched on other topics in the book: from racism to socioeconomic realities of the black family.
